Melissa Werner
Director of Education

Melissa joined the ARHP staff in late 2016 after consulting on several ARHP programs. She brings to her role a strong commitment to health equity and social justice and extensive experience in a range of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) topics, including abortion, HIV/AIDS and other STIs, breast and cervical cancer, and contraception. Melissa began her career in SRH in 1990 as a counselor and medical assistant at Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC, and has never looked back. More recently, she served as director of education and training at the National Abortion Federation and as director of prevention programs at the Women’s Collective.

As director of education, Melissa oversees all aspects of ARHP’s professional education programs and activities. Melissa holds a BA in English from Vassar College, an MPH in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, and an MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) from the American University.
