Sexual and Reproductive Health Workforce Project

With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, the health care landscape is changing rapidly. To ensure that patients’ sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs continue to be met in the changing US system, ARHP has launched the Sexual and Reproductive Health Workforce Project.

ARHP has convened the leading academics, advocates, providers, and policymakers to determine strategies for educating and training the workforce to deliver sexual and reproductive health care. Critical goals of this project include:

  • Ensuring that health professionals entering primary care and public health are competent to provide high quality SRH care
  • Adapting primary care pre-licensure training to include well-prepared faculty members teaching SRH core competencies
  • Expanding SRH skills training and continuing education opportunities for providers
  • Changing health care systems, including primary care settings, to provide safe, timely, affordable, culturally appropriate evidenced-based SRH care
  • Improving the distribution of the primary care work force to reduce disparities in SRH care

In late January, ARHP brought together the leading experts in the field for the Sexual and Reproductive Health Workforce Project Summit. The results of this convening will be published in early Spring 2013. Summit participants included:
