Managing HPV: A New Era in Patient Care: Screening and Management of Abnormal Results



Learning Objectives

  • Correctly apply national guidelines for the initiation, interval, and cessation of cervical cancer screening to patients in your clinical practice.
  • Correctly differentiate between appropriate and inappropriate use of HPV DNA testing.
  • Correctly apply the recommended interval for follow up and management of repeat HPV DNA  testing in the primary screening of women age 30 and older in your clinical practice. 
  • Correctly apply recommended guidelines for management of abnormal cervical cytology results.
  • Identify recommended management of abnormal cervical cytology results for pregnant, postmenopausal, immunosuppressed, and adolescent women.

Accreditation Information

Physicians: The Association of Reproductive Health Professionals is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. ARHP designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurse Practitioners and Nurses: This educational activity has been approved by the Continuing Education Approval Program of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health for 1 contact hours, including 1 pharmacology hours. Credit can be applied toward the nursing continuing requirements of most professional organizations and State Boards of Nursing.

Others: A certificate of attendance will be issued indicating that this activity is accredited for 1 hour of AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM.
