Breaking the Contraceptive Barrier: Techniques for Effective Contraceptive Consultations



Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be:

  • Recognize barriers of individual patients to effective prevention of unintended pregnancy
  • Identify barriers that impede the ability of health care providers to discuss contraception with patients successfully
  • Examine effective strategies for overcoming the most common barriers to patients’ contraceptive success
  • Develop individualized strategies for provision of contraception to patients

Accreditation Information

Physicians: The Association of Reproductive Health Professionals is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. ARHP designates this educational activity for a maximum 1 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurse Practitioners and Nurses: This educational activity has been approved by the Continuing Education Approval Program of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health for 1 contact hour, including 0.5 pharmacology hours. Credit can be applied toward the nursing continuing requirements of most professional organizations and State Boards of Nursing.

Pharmacists: The Association of Reproductive Health Professionals (ARHP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
