WASHINGTON, DC ( June 22, 2005)—The Association of Reproductive Health Professionals (ARHP) applauds the FDA’s decision to issue an action letter to continue approvable status for the single-rod implant, an important new contraceptive option for women. Because every woman is unique and has individual needs based on her health, age, lifestyle, and personal preferences, ARHP supports the availability of as many safe, effective contraceptive options as possible. New longer-term contraceptive delivery systems, like the single-rod implant, can be very beneficial to women interested in longer-term protection from unintended pregnancy.
