Statement of Wayne C. Shields, President and CEO of the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals (ARHP)
“On behalf of ARHP’s 12,000 reproductive health care providers, researchers, and educators, we call on Susan G. Komen for the Cure to reverse their decision to discontinue funding Planned Parenthood’s breast examination program. ARHP deplores this apparently politically-motivated decision which will have the greatest impact on the poorest and most vulnerable women in America. ARHP supports using science and compassion to meet the health care needs of all Americans and to inform policy decision-making. Now is the time for charities, non-profit organizations, government agencies, and others who provide health care to support one another and work together.”
