Description of Organization:
Planned Parenthood Mid and South Michigan (PPMSM) is seeking to fill the position of Vice President of Business Development. PPMSM provides quality healthcare to 50,000 patients. Our service area, where we can provide health and education services and raise funds, is in Berrien, Cass, Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Van Buren, Wayne, Washtenaw, Genesee, Shiawassee and Saginaw counties. We currently have 15 health centers in Ann Arbor (2), Benton Harbor, Brighton, Detroit, East Lansing, Jackson, Lansing, Livonia, Warren, Ypsilanti, Flint, Burton, Owosso, and Saginaw.

Position Responsibilities:

We are seeking a fast thinking individual with strong leadership and strategic thinking abilities. The individual must thrive in a challenging and fast paced environment and should be decisive, persuasive and enthusiastic. This dynamic position is principally responsible for providing strategic planning and operational leadership germane to the organization’s patient base, market share, and revenue. This includes developing new market initiatives and analyzing business opportunities that yield revenue generation and result in sustainable growth. In collaboration with senior management, this role is critical in executing the business functions of the medical department consistent with PPMSM’s mission, values, goals, and objectives. Essential functions of this job include:

  • Provide strategic leadership for all medical services including oversight of health centers, quality control, and research initiatives.
  • Lead and manage the development of the medical divisions’ strategic and annual business planning process.
  • Serve as a core member of the senior management team to ensure that all medical affairs activities and initiatives are aligned with those of the organization in a way that achieves the collective goals and mission.
  • Identify, evaluate, and lead the implementation of new services and the creation of strategic partnerships to support and expand the delivery of revenue generating medical services, including capitalizing on federal measures relative to health care reform.
  • Spearhead efforts to ensure effective communication of new initiatives by acting as a spokesperson and advocate for projects.
  • Develop in consultation with Directors, project/program business plans including program narratives, timelines and schedules, program goals, and work with VP of Finance to develop revenue/expense budgets for new initiatives. Ensure the plans relate to specific financial and operational initiatives for departments as well as for the organization.
  • Plan, devise and approve medical services operational policies, programs, procedures and methods aligned with accreditation standards and medical standards and guidelines.
  • In partnership with the Vice President of Finance create the annual budget; provide timely and accurate analyses of budgets, project proposals and business trends relative to the medical business unit.
  • In conjunction with the Sr. Director of Medical Operations, identify key metrics for medical divisions’ performance to be reported to CEO and management.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with academic and medical establishments for the purposes of business and research collaboration.


Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, health administration or a related discipline plus a minimum of seven to ten years of relevant experience with progressively responsible management duties, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • One to three year’s experience at the senior management level required. MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
