Description of Organization:

Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD) is the largest nonprofit organization in the United States focused entirely on Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a fatal disorder that slowly robs young men of their muscle strength.

Our mission is to end Duchenne. We invest deeply in treatments for this generation of young men affected by Duchenne and in research that will benefit future generations. We advocate in Washington, DC, and have secured hundreds of millions of dollars in funding. We demand optimal care, and we strengthen, unite, and educate the global Duchenne community.



Position Responsibilities:
  • Management – Leadership- Fundraising
  • Work in collaboration with executive staff to develop and manage the implementation of a comprehensive fundraising strategy to include major gifts, corporate donations and sponsorships, foundation relations, individual giving, special events, and grassroots fundraising activities.
  • Undertake primary responsibility for major donor interaction and support
  • Prepare and manage strategic development plans, ensuring that the long term and operational goals and objectives are being met.
  • Create and manage a program for the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of existing as well as prospective individual, corporate, foundation, government and other major donors.
  • Coordinate with the development team to ensure integrated marketing and development activities and develop publications and fundraising materials that enhance PPMD’s image and promote its fundraising activities.
  • Monitor, record, analyze and report on all fundraising results.
  • Attend relevant organization’s planning, program, and strategy meetings.
  • Ensure that all administrative requirements, such as state registrations and audit reports are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Analyze and forecast fundraising potential for use in organizational financial planning.
  • Collaborate with team to help develop and implement a variety of communication strategies to support development and fundraising initiatives, including donor solicitations materials and an annual report.
  • Serve as a visible spokesperson and advocate for PPMD’s mission and programs in the funding community.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5-8 years of senior development and community relations experience in a nonprofit organizations.
  • A successful track record in individual and major giving.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent organizational ability, and superior communications skills, both oral and written.
  • A sophisticated understanding of the tools of fundraising as well as the ability to work as part of a team and motivate others.
  • Demonstrated skills in budgeting, financial analysis, and revenue forecasting
  • Proven experience in project management and strategic planning. Experience require in writing and implementing fundraising plans.
  • Experience and achievement in cultivating and soliciting major gifts and foundation grants.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; persuasive public speaking ability; superior writing and editing skills; significant experience in dealing effectively with high net work individuals.
  • Experience in health-care preferred with knowledge of rare disease in relation to health based nonprofits a plus.
  • Ability to travel to meetings, donor solicitations and fundraising events as needed.
