Position Responsibilities: PSI seeks candidates for a Technical Advisor in Reproductive Health. The Technical Advisor will serve as the primary point of contact in the Sexual & Reproductive Health & TB (SRHT) Department for clinical quality improvement in family planning & reproductive health (FP/RH), and will coordinate FP/RH quality improvement efforts with other health areas as needed. In this role, the Technical Advisor will work closely with PSI’s Senior Director/SRHT, Global Medical Director/SRHT, Global Clinical Advisor/SRHT, Deputy Director/SIFPO, Technical Advisor for Maternal Health in SRHT, Technical Advisor HIV/TB in SRHT, QA Technical Advisor/Malaria & Child Survival, platform Medical Directors, and other key stakeholders in clinical quality improvement as needed. The Technical Advisor will also be PSI’s lead for the Cervical Cancer technical portfolio. The Technical Advisor will be supported by other SRHT staff and by SRHT consultants as is appropriate.
This full-time position is based in Washington, D.C., and reports to the Senior Director, SRHT with a dotted line to the Deputy Director/SIFPO. Up to 30% international travel is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clinical quality improvement (QI):
- Develop a comprehensive management, coordination and monitoring system and processes for all major QI activities
- Facilitate, in coordination with platforms and regions, platform compliance with annual platform/internal Quality Assurance (QA) audits and bi-annual independent/external QA audits (PSI Platform Minimum Standard)
- Coordinate and organize, with logistics support from an SRHT consultant, independent QA audits including identification of auditors, scheduling of QA audit visits, identification of audit sites, and other related tasks as needed
- Manage the follow up of QA audit findings
- Finalize and roll out the QA scoring system
- Manage development, revision and/or improvement of QA audit tools, including supportive supervision tools
- Coordinate, with the Senior Director/SRHT, Global Medical Director and specific technical leads regarding the addition and/or revision of PSI’s QA manuals, clinical service delivery protocols and other QA tools
- Manage SRHT’s Adverse Events distribution lists and database, prepare and disseminate regular summaries of data and trends to inform capacity building efforts, and provide summaries on FP/RH adverse events to senior management at PSI/Washington as needed
- Manage SRHT’s platform-to-platform (P2P) QA capacity building efforts, including coordination of project, thematic and regional medical meetings, maintenance of a database of P2P QA auditor and trainer resources, coordination of QA auditor trainings, and facilitation of cross-platform QA audit opportunities for approved auditors
- Disseminate and promote sharing of QI information via SocialCast, Kix and other channels
- Prepare annual summaries of QI activities and document best practices and lessons learned
- Represent PSI’s QI work externally as needed through partner and donor meetings, conferences, dissemination of case studies, etc.
Other responsibilities:
- Provide in-depth FP/RH technical assistance and programmatic support to two assigned Women's Health Project (WHP) country programs and to other country programs as needed
- Provide technical review of WHP donor reports as assigned
- Lead PSI/SRHT Cervical Cancer activities including management of a cervical cancer project, coordination of PSI’s Cervical Cancer Working Group, and external representation as needed
- Provide remote and in-country technical assistance to PSI platforms as needed
- Act as SRHT’s FP/RH focal point with PSI/Washington’s Corporate Marketing, Communications & Advocacy Department and other departments as assigned
- Provide new business development and proposal review support as needed
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher in relevant subject areas
- 5+ years of professional experience, with at least 2 years of overseas work experience
- Demonstrable and proven organizational and coordination skills
- Project management skills including use of online project management software
- Knowledge management skills
- Family planning and reproductive health projects
- Cervical cancer technical knowledge and experience
- Developing quality assurance guidelines and tools for health service delivery
- Capacity building including training facilitation and adult learning skills
- Effective oral and written communications skills
- Fluency in English with French preferred.
