Sexual Assault Response Coordinator

Position Responsibilities:

The SARC provides 24/7 on-call response (with assistance from the Director of Wellness and Counseling Center staff) for incidents of sexual violence, misconduct, and intimate partner violence; plans and conducts educational/prevention programming designed to increase awareness and involvement in stopping sexual violence misconduct intimate partner violence and other gender-based violence; works directly with the Director of the Wellness Resource Center to assist with program evaluation and development and to provide education on other health and wellness related topics, such as substance use and abuse, sexual health and socio-cultural competency.

  • Create an on-going educational program on campus to address the causes, situations, and behaviors associated with sexual assault, sexual harassment, intimate partner violence and other non-consensual behaviors, as well as the importance of bystander intervention.  Conduct training with campus constituencies including students, staff and faculty regarding student sexual misconduct policies and procedures, to include NSO, 1st year and transfer student trainings, and new faculty and staff trainings.  Manage a publicity campaign that includes an up to date website, brochures regarding policy, procedure and likely outcomes, as well as publicity for prevention education programming.  Conduct outreach with campus constituencies to increase awareness of sexual assault within their groups, provide prevention education programming, and increase the likelihood of members of those sub-communities to seek services when needed.
  • Work with the Director of the Wellness Resource Center to assist with program evaluation and development, to include needs assessments and program evaluation data collection and analysis on topics related to holistic wellness, such as victimization rates, sexual and other health-related attitudes and behaviors, substance use/abuse, etc.  Additionally, the SARC compiles statistics on all reported sexual misconduct and report to the community in an appropriate manner.  Data collection efforts will be used to inform program planning efforts.
  • Provide 24-hour on-call response to campus community for incidents of sexual misconduct through SARP and share on-call duties with Boettcher Counseling Center. Serve as a point of contact for students wishing to file formal complaints through the sexual misconduct policy, students, faculty and staff wishing to file complaints through the campus non-discrimination policy, and to provide support as those individuals negotiate campus judicial processes, medical systems and the criminal justice system.  Collaborate with other college staff and faculty to ensure that policies and procedures are up-to-date and consistently followed.
  • Conduct other health and wellness related programming as needed by the Director of the Wellness Resource Center, and conduct outreach, support and advising for student groups such as SOSS, which provide educational programming, response and referral for the campus community.
  • Support and contribute to the goal of achieving greater diversity at Colorado College and work effectively with the many constituencies in a college environment.Promote a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe situations and accidents; following college procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training.
  • Act in a socially responsible manner and model environmental sustainability by exercising financial prudence, using college resources wisely, and supporting ecological initiatives and innovation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.



Qualifications:

Master’s degree plus a minimum of two years of related experience specifically related to sexual health issues; knowledge of and experience with crisis intervention; advanced knowledge of applicable sexual health and higher education laws and regulations, including Federal legislation such as Title IX, Title VII, and the Clery Act; excellent public speaking skills, including experience presenting to college-age populations; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to think critically and solve problems; good judgment and ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion; proficient with computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; excellent organizational and customer service skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Specialty certification in sexual assault and intimate partner advocacy;
