Description of Organization: Gynuity Health Projects is a research and technical assistance organization dedicated to the idea that all people should have access to the fruits of medical science and reproductive technology development. We focus primarily on resource-poor environments, underserved populations, and challenging subjects. To this end, Gynuity works globally to ensure that reproductive health technologies are widely available, provided in the context of high-quality services, and offered in a way that recognizes the dignity and autonomy of each individual. We conduct clinical, service delivery, and social science research on a range of reproductive health technologies. We also provide technical assistance on ways to improve services and service-delivery options.
Position Responsibilities: The Program Research Coordinator will collaborate with Gynuity staff on a wide range of research and policy projects related to misoprostol for the prevention and treatment of postpartum hemorrhage. The research coordinator will need to be highly organized with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. We seek a flexible, open-minded individual with a strong commitment to women’s reproductive health issues.
- Collaborate on research design and development for studies addressing the role of misoprostol in the prevention and treatment of postpartum hemorrhage; help in organization and implementation of studies
- Assist with preparation of study instruments, instruction manuals, and study budgets
- Monitor studies for conformance with protocol, maintenance of GCP research standards, and ethics of research on humans; assure quality of data collected
- Organize investigators’ meetings
- Supervise data entry and data management
- Assist with organizing, analyzing, and interpreting the data from Gynuity’s studies and with presenting results in national and international meetings and in publications
- Assist with preparation of informational materials for the public, for policymakers, and for medical professionals
- Help with drafting of donor reports
- Assist, as needed, with other reproductive health initiatives
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Public Health and minimum of 2-3 years of related job experience internationally
- Strong interest in reproductive health technologies; knowledge of issues related to PPH care highly desirable.
- One or more years of statistical training in quantitative methods and solid understanding of statistical software packages, such as SPSS
- Willing to travel internationally 20-30%
- Working knowledge of French and/or Hindi and/or Arabic
- Some experience with clinical trials, human subjects research and regulatory agencies highly desirable
- Some experience with community level studies desirable
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Creative, hard working and dynamic personality with good interpersonal skills and good sense of humor
