Date Posted: 1/30/2012
Organization: FasterCures
Location: Washington, DC
Description of Organization: FasterCures is an “action tank” that works to improve the medical research system— so that we can speed up the time it takes to get important new medicines from discovery to patients.
Our mission is to accelerate the progress of discovery and development of new medical solutions for deadly and debilitating diseases. We are nimble and independent, a “safe place” for key stakeholders of the medical research enterprise to come together and get things done.
Position Responsibilities: The Program Associate will provide administrative, programmatic, and operations assistance to the FasterCures team to move forward their core initiatives. These activities will encompass various work-streams related to FasterCures’ strategic plan including The Research Acceleration and Innovation Network (TRAIN), Philanthropy Advisory Service (PAS), policy and regulatory issues and as well as providing administrative support to FasterCures’ leadership and key program staff. Additionally, the Program Associate will work with the External Affairs and Operations Director in supporting the daily operations of the organization.
The Communications Coordinator will help develop and maintain the framework for core FasterCures communications activities including digital communications, traditional media outreach, message development and dissemination, and other communications and outreach support.
The Research Policy Manager will conceptualize efforts to ensure FasterCures is fluent in the work of government agencies that intersect with our agenda related to medical research, including the intersection between the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulatory science agenda, support for innovation in general, biomedical research funding levels, health information technology, comparative effectiveness research (as it intersects with medical research), and the care and cure delivery. The Research Policy Manager will support efforts to understand the contributions, challenges, and opportunities for innovation at key federal agencies, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the FDA, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
