Description of Organization: Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties seeks qualified, energetic, compassionate primary care physicians to provide high quality primary care to the more than 160,000 men and women attending our health centers. Today we are one of the largest providers of reproductive health care in Orange and San Bernardino Counties.
Position Responsibilities: Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Adhere to agency’s policies, procedures and protocols. This may include successfully completing agency, regional and/or state certification requirements;
- Provide high quality primary care services, including examination, treatment, education and counseling for patients in accordance with agency protocols and current standards of care;
- Evaluate and treat medical problems, ensuring follow-up and referral as indicated;
- Educate and counsel patients on health issues, including reproductive health;
- Provide contraceptives, including intrauterine devices and contraceptive implants, and sexual health care;
- Provide surgical abortion referral and counseling;
- Provide medication abortion services;
- Provide medical consultation and precepting to midlevel clinicians regarding the clinical management of specific patients;
- Provide telephone consultation to midlevel clinicians on some evenings and weekends;
- Provide direct supervision to midlevel clinicians within the scope of medical expertise and California state law;
- Document patient data accurately and completely in the medical record;
- Participate in a team approach to patient care and deliver care in a professional, confidential and expeditious manner;
- Manage emergency situations as they arise in the health center, and consult with the Medical Director and Associate Medical Director as necessary;
- Participate in a regularly scheduled peer review process, as required;
- Attend meetings, as required;
- Meet productivity expectations.
Qualifications: Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Current California Medical License and DEA Registration;
- Current Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine;
- A strong interest/experience in reproductive health;
- Interest/experience working with adolescents and medically underserved communities;
- Current BLS/ACLS certification;
- Spanish fluency a plus;
- A strong interest/experience in specific specialty areas (prenatal care, transgender care, men’s health care, infertility services, etc.) a plus.
