Description of Organization:
An excellent opportunity is available in Maine’s largest city, Portland. All About Women is a well established OB/GYN practice with an impeccable reputation looking to add an additional OB/GYN physician to their growing practice. This full service practice is comprised of 6 physicians, along with medical professionals including 3 full time nurses, 3 medical assistants and outstanding support staff. The call is a very comfortable 1 in 5. All About Women is part of Mercy Hospital, a progressive 170-bed community hospital serving the greater Portland area. The practice is located in a new Medical Office Building adjacent to Mercy’s Birthplace. Mercy Health System has 30 primary and specialty care practices. The physician will benefit from referrals from Mercy’s robust primary care network as well as an excellent State wide referral base.

Position Responsibilities:

The physician is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of obstetric and gynecological disorders of patients. The physician must continually focus on patient safety and ensure timely and correct disposition of all patients, including appropriate coordination of care, preventive medicine and patient self-management opportunities. The physician must maintain a strong working rapport with the Mercy Primary Care physicians, Mercy Oncologists, Mercy Hospitalists and Physician Extender staff, the medical staff, consultants and emergency medical personnel. The physician will actively monitor and coordinate service line enhancements. He/she must attend division meetings, have a current knowledge of obstetric and gynecological policies and procedures, and participate in quality improvement initiatives within the Dept and the practice.

The incumbent performs duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the job. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position. In addition, the incumbent conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Mercy Hospital.

A MD or DO required. Must be Board certified or board eligible in OB/GYN. Must be eligible for Mercy Hospital Staff membership and hold a valid State of Maine license. Broad and in-depth technical knowledge and skills related to the practice of obstetrics and gynecology. Excellent teaching, supervisory and administrative skills. In-depth familiarity with evidence-based ob/gyn care and risk management strategies. Ability to speak clearly and comfortably to patients and use tact, discretion and sensitivity in dealing with patients, including excellent interviewing and counseling skills. Ability to explain medical problems and treatments in accurate and understandable lay language. Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of care providers and personnel inside and outside of Mercy Hospital.
