Outreach Manager for Women's Health and Reproductive Rights

Position Responsibilities:

The National Women's Law Center (NWLC) is seeking an Outreach Manager to work on an exciting new campaign. Responding to the intensified conversation around women’s reproductive health over the past several months and fighting back against legislative assaults across the country, NWLC will launch a large-scale, primarily online campaign and coalition effort to increase public awareness and mobilize supporters to protect access to women’s health care. If you are a tech-savvy advocacy professional committed to advancing reproductive justice and women’s civil rights, then this may be the perfect job for you. This position is available for a one-year period beginning approximately July 1st.

The Outreach Manager will report to the Senior Outreach Manager for Health and Reproductive Rights.

Responsibilities

  • Help manage a large-scale reproductive rights campaign, including developing and implementing campaign strategies and messaging and project-managing campaign components.
  • Help manage advocacy outreach on state and federal reproductive health policies and legislation by coordinating regular communications with current advocates and   coalition members and developing opportunities for recruiting potential advocates. 
  • Write and disseminate action alerts, campaign materials such as fact sheets and blog posts, web content, materials for social media efforts, and other related materials.  
  • Help organize and manage conferences, meetings, webinars, public speaking opportunities, and other NWLC-hosted events.  
  • Represent NWLC at appropriate coalition meetings.
  • Supervise the work of other staff and interns as directed.


Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a related field preferred, with at least 3 years of experience helping manage issue campaigns and advocacy projects. 
  • Experience with health policy, especially reproductive health issues, and field/outreach experience, in particular with grassroots and grasstops advocacy campaigns, field organization, and communications, strongly preferred.  
  • The ability to grasp key policy messages and effectively communicate them to a variety of audiences in person, by phone, and in writing.
  • Strong strategic planning skills with experience in developing and implementing effective communications strategies and with a wide range of communications tools, such  as advertising, marketing, online communications, and web site maintenance, with a strong understanding of the importance of online activism and social networking tools.  Experience with event planning, coordination, and management strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of online engagement strategies and issue campaigns is a major plus. Experience with outreach to communities of color and college campuses is a plus. 
  • Adept at navigating the technology necessary to execute successful outreach efforts and advocacy campaigns. Competency in basic computer software and web-based database programs is required.  Experience with HTML, Raiser’s Edge, Drupal, Convio, and/or other eCRMs and content management systems is highly desirable.  
  • The ability to be self-directed and work well with competing priorities, meet deadlines, and manage workflow processes involving multiple people. Demonstrated experience  and judgment working both collaboratively and independently. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and write, edit, and manage distribution of communications quickly. 
  • Careful attention to detail is a must.
