Description of Organization:
For over 35 years, the National Women’s Law Center has led the way in expanding the possibilities for women and girls. The Center uses the law in all its forms to advance the rights of women, from advocating for new laws to litigating ground-breaking lawsuits to educating the public about how to make the law and public policies work for women and their families. The Center focuses on major policy areas of importance to women, including education, employment, health and reproductive rights, and family economic security, with special priority given to the needs of low-income women and their families. The Center has a staff of over 50 and an annual budget of approximately $10 million.

Position Responsibilities:
The Online Outreach Associate will coordinate many of NWLC’s day-to-day online operations, including e-mail blasts, action alerts, online donations, web analytics, and website content. Although much of the Associate’s time will be focused on technical work, the Associate will be an integral part of NWLC’s Communications team and will be encouraged to offer input on content decisions. This position is a great opportunity for an up-and-coming online activist who’s committed to progressive women’s issues and experienced in using popular online advocacy and fundraising tools.

The Associate’s responsibilities include:

  • Setting up daily e-mail blasts, action alerts, donation forms, and other features in NWLC’s e-CRM, Convio, as well as managing Convio imports/exports, queries, and constituent record maintenance.
  • Producing regular online analytics reports.
  • Assisting in the management of online advertising through Google AdWords.
  • Assisting in social networking activities, including Facebook and Twitter.
  • Performing basic photo editing and proofreading for online communications and content.
  • Writing and maintaining instructions and guidance for staff on use of online tools and training staff on the use of these tools.
  • Updating NWLC’s website and blog as needed, using Drupal.
  • Assisting Communications staff and other teams as needed with online tasks, including troubleshooting and producing content. Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required. A degree in a related field is preferred (communications, women’s studies, political science, computer science, etc).
  • 2-3 years of related professional experience is required.
  • Experience with e-CRMs (such as Convio, GetActive, or Democracy In Action) is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Convio.
  • Experience in HTML, Drupal (or similar CMSs), Raiser’s Edge (or similar databases), Photoshop, blog platforms (such as WordPress or TypePad), Google Analytics, Dreamweaver, and social networking tools (such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn) is highly desirable. Fluency in MS Office programs, including Excel, is required.
  • A strong eye for detail, including proofreading skills, and a thoughtful, analytical approach to managing complex tasks is required.
  • The ability to work well with competing priorities, meet deadlines, and manage workflow processes involving multiple people is required.
  • Demonstrated experience and judgment working both collaboratively and independently and the ability to make quick decisions is required.
  • A commitment to progressive women's issues is a must.
