Description of Organization: RH Reality Check (www.rhrealitycheck.org) is an award-winning daily publication providing evidence-based news, analysis, and commentary, as well as interactive dialogue on matters of sexual and reproductive health and justice. RHRC is expanding its capacity in 2013 through a number of strategic hires, including the position listed here. Position Responsibilities: RHRC is hiring an Online Community Manager. This is a new position intended to help us increase and better focus the attention we give our online communities. The Community Manager will:
- Create and execute strategies for raising our profile on social media platforms, including existing as
well as new and emerging platforms;
- Develop and execute outreach social media outreach strategies around specific articles, series, and
issues on which we work;
- Manage and increase our presence on existing social platforms like Twitter and Facebook through
community engagement and by sharing content (both original and sourced) with and from partners
and like-minded individuals and organizations to help others use our community as a resource;
- Establish and increase our presence on new or underutilized social media platforms;
Work with other staff as appropriate to create, articulate, and carry out comprehensive short- and
long-term social media strategies;
- Work with other staff as appropriate to integrate social online efforts in tandem with our other off
and online strategies; and
- Build and strengthen our relationships with other online communities, writers, and publications in
order to expand the reach of our content and community.
Qualifications: The Ideal candidate for this position will be both a self-starter and collaborator with:
- Strong and demonstrated experience in social media management, conducting social media
campaigns, and depth of knowledge in the medium;
- A demonstrated history of excellence in thinking outside the box, innovation and experimentation,
taking initiative, leading a strategy, and following through;
- Demonstrated experience in outlining deliverables and quantifying campaign results, and experience
in and willingness to run a good series of a/b tests to develop winning strategies;
- Proficient in use of Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr, Blogging Platforms and photo/video editing software like Photoshop and iMovie
- A proven understanding of not just the mechanical tools to manage social platforms like Twitter and
Facebook but a passion for using those tools to engage with individuals as human beings;
- Strong knowledge of the array of reproductive and sexual health and justice issues our community
cares about with a passion for sharing that knowledge;
- Demonstrated ability to engage successfully in both individual and teamwork, and ability to take
input and constructive critique; and
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, and a strong ability to multitask.
