Medical Director

Salary: Compensation includes both a medical director and clinical services component and is commensurate with experience and the amount of clinical services provided. The Medical Director is paid as an independent contractor. Malpractice coverage is provided by the affiliate.

Description of Organization:
Planned Parenthood Southeast (PPSE) is a member affiliate of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), the oldest and largest voluntary family planning organization in the country. PPSE is a regional organization providing reproductive health services, education and advocacy, with health centers in Georgia, Alabama & Mississippi.

Position Responsibilities:
PPSE is seeking a Regional Medical Director to provide physician leadership and oversight of the clinical programs in Alabama. The Medical Director is responsible for ensuring that clinical practice and patient care are of high quality, comply with PPFA standards and guidelines, and meet the affiliate’s needs. The Medical Director may also provide direct patient care including abortion and/or family planning services in Birmingham and Mobile.

Qualifications:
    • Board certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist with training and experience in performing abortions, colposcopy and contraceptive management
    • Licensed in good standing to practice medicine in the State of Alabama
    • Experience in medical administration and quality management
    • Experience in management of physicians and mid-level practitioners
    • Supports the delivery of services by nurse practitioners and other mid-level clinicians
    • Demonstrates flexibility and teamwork, works collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff
    • Interested in and actively supports a customer-focused approach to health care delivery
    • Able to travel to the Mobile & Birmingham Health Centers
    • Understanding of and strong commitment to promoting women’s health and wellness
    • Able to represent PPSE to the community, as needed
