Description of Organization: Serving the State of Delaware, Planned Parenthood of Delaware (PPDE) has provided high quality affordable health care, education, and advocacy to women, men, and teens for eighty years. Our focus is on prevention with our health care department providing: routine gynecological and contraceptive services; emergency contraception; cancer screenings; STI testing, prevention counseling and treatment; HIV testing and counseling; pregnancy testing and options counseling; colposcopy services and abortion care.
Position Responsibilities: The Medical Director(part-time)is responsible for providing medical leadership and direction to PPDE’s Medical Services Department, for implementing medical protocols that are consistent with clinical standards set by PPFA and all federal and state regulations, and for providing supervision of licensed staff to assure compliance in the provision of medical care. Will provide limited direct clinical services. Responsible for representing PPDE in the medical community and providing other departments with medical background and medical leadership.
Qualifications:
- Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.)
- Medical license or ability to obtain, without restrictions, to practice in the state of Delaware, required
- OB/GYN or family practice physician with training and experience in reproductive health care required
- OB/GYN Board certified or eligible, preferred
- Experience in colposcopy and abortion care required, with experience in LEEP preferred
- Medical administration experience with demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and motivate others while working as part of a team required
- Demonstrated participation in continuing professional training and education in areas pertinent to responsibilities as Medical Director
- Admitting privileges at local hospital or alternatively able to establish arrangement with a local physician who has privileges at a local hospital
- Ability to work collaboratively with VP of Medical Services, head of medical center operations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and interact comfortably with a diverse group of clients, staff and volunteers in a non-judgmental, professional, respectful and sensitive manner.
