Position Responsibilities: We are looking for a Manager for our Government Affairs department who will influence, advise, and consult with Members of Congress and their staff, Federal agencies, medical societies, and other health organizations on specific women’s health/provider issues and official ACOG policies.
Responsibilities

Works closely with the Government Affairs team to develop lobbying strategies and activities on Capitol Hill.
- Works with the Government Affairs team to develop legislative material for distribution to Congress and the Administration.
- Lobbies and educates Members of Congress and Federal Agency officials on women’s health care and women’s health provider issues such as medical liability reform, domestic violence, sex education, family planning, appropriations (HRSA/CDC/FDA), insurance and delivery system reforms, Medicare and Medicaid payment policy and other issues specific to ACOG policies and positions.
- Drafts testimony, legislation, legislative support letters, regulatory comments, action alerts, talking points, memos, advisory committee nomination letters, fact sheets, and other materials as necessary.
- Stays abreast of women’s health care issues in the interest of ACOG.
- Works closely with the Practice Department, Women’s Health Department, and Fellowship Activities to analyze legislation and regulations.
- Attends fundraisers and participates in PAC giving-strategy.
- Attends congressional and agency hearings, briefings and meetings.
- Represents ACOG and the Government Affairs department in several medical and national coalitions.
- Reviews periodicals, the Federal Register, Congressional Committee activities, Administration activities, grant opportunities, advisory committee opportunities, and other items of relevance, daily.
- Organizes sessions and prepares materials for National lobby-day and Government Affairs Committee Meetings.
- Conducts other tasks as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree required, and 3-5 years of related experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of the legislative process.
- Must have previous experience in lobbying, healthcare, membership advocacy, and/or hill experience.
- Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Must be able to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects.
- Interest in women’s health issues and Congressional and regulatory advocacy required.
