Male Servies Project Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Male Service Project Coordinator is responsible for designing, coordinating and implementing PPSLR’s BOYS2MEN program, serving males of color between the ages of 12 – 25, providing support to the Education Resource Center and library, and furthering the integration and appreciation of diversity and inclusion in and for the department. These responsibilities include: implementing PPSLR’s Peer to Peer Educator Program to specific organizations serving minority males, providing educational programs in the health centers, and engaging in outreach efforts to make males of color aware of the programs and services available for them through PPSLR. This position also requires computer and writing work that will require sitting at a desk for extended periods and requires standing for periods of time in excess of one hour.

PRIMARY DUTIES PERFORMED:

• Assist Vice President of Education with managing the BOYS2MEN grant
  
• Initiate and develop relationships with community organizations to promote PPSLR’s Peer Education Program and Health Center services
  
• Design, develop, and supplement the current Peer Education Curriculum with culturally – relevant education activities related to adolescent sexual health issues for minority males.
• Recruit, interview, and hire Peer Educators
  
• Develop and implement a schedule of community outreach activities
• Maintain a current supply of educational materials and supplies to distribute at outreach venues
  
• Serve as Department of Education team member
  
• Keep Vice President of Education well informed of Peer Education Programs and community outreach activities
  
• Follow procedures for driving and maintaining the PPSLR Volkswagen Bug
  
• Attend community coalition meetings as assigned
  
• Work in health centers as a health educator, providing group prevention messages
  
• Promote PPSLR’s mission and services

• Follows HIPAA privacy and security guidelines.

• Bachelor’s Degree
  
• Demonstrates interest in teenagers and youth development
  
• Demonstrates interest in working with minority males
  
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
  
• Availability to work nights and weekends as necessary
  
• Efficient means of transportation to off site programs is essential
  
• Commitment to human sexuality, reproductive health and freedom, comprehensive sexuality education and family planning is essential
  
• Ability to communicate and work positively and effectively with persons regardless of culture, age group, ability, gender, sex, religion, sexual orientation or socieo- economic classes.
  
• Bilingual skills a plus, particularly Spanish or Serbo-Croatian or Vietnamese
