Description of Organization:
Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution, is seeking a Grants Specialist for the Civil Liberties and Public Policy (CLPP) Program, a national project that equips and inspires new generations of leaders through campus-based education, real-world advocacy practice, and the skills to build a stronger, more diverse movement for reproductive freedom and social change.

Position Responsibilities:

Reporting to the CLPP Director, the Grants Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing CLPP’s grant seeking and grant management activities to support the CLPP budget and projected program growth.  The Grant Specialist will be responsible for grant writing and research and will oversee the development, assembly and submission of grant materials, as well as grant administration stewardship to maintain and improve systems for tracking institutional fundraising, oversight of deadlines, and progress toward development goals. In addition, the specialist will participate with other staff, students and advisory board members in collaborative planning of CLPP programs and strategic planning. This position will supervise administrative support staff.

This is a part time (.60 FTE) grant funded position with continuation pending future funding.

Bachelor’s Degree required with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in nonprofit development, including strong fundraising experience with demonstrable success in soliciting and securing support from foundations.  Significant experience in proposal development and grants management, budget development and monitoring, and institutional prospect research and stewardship highly desirable. Candidates should possess excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills; have advanced computer skills; and be able to produce effective and compelling written materials. Qualified candidates should have experience with databases and internet research. Previous supervisory experience is a plus. The Grants Specialist will be expected to be self-motivated, resourceful, and creative and to work collaboratively in teams with diverse staff, students, board members and volunteers. A commitment to CLPP’s mission is essential. This position requires occasional evenings and weekends.
