Planned Parenthood Mid and South Michigan provides quality healthcare to 50,000 patients. Our service area, where we can provide health and education services and raise funds, is in Berrien, Cass, Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Van Buren, Wayne, Washtenaw, Genesee, Shiawassee and Saginaw counties. We currently have 15 health centers in Ann Arbor (2), Benton Harbor, Brighton, Detroit, East Lansing, Jackson, Lansing, Livonia, Warren, Ypsilanti, Flint, Burton, Owosso, and Saginaw.
Position Responsibilities:
Position Summary: To provide a high standard of pre operative care, intra operative care and post operative patient assessment, evaluation, education and discharge.
Essential Functions:
- Perform pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care/support for procedure patients
- Administer IV sedation under orders and supervision of a physician.
- Perform routine nursing interventions/procedures: giving injections, drawing blood, vital signs, monitor oxygen saturation, adminster narcotics, support patient, and provide education to patient
- Review charts for completion and adherence to PPMSM protocol.
- Review of medical history and physical assessment to ensure patient appropriateness for planned pain management
- Assessing patients for readiness for discharge.
- Responsible for set up, break-down, and stocking of recovery room
- Responsible for supervision of care provided by externs and/other non-licensed staff working in the recovery room
- Yearly accurral of CEU’s related to providing conscious sedation
- Understands and participates in the referral/follow-up system
- Monitoring and maintenance of narcotic medications used during the course of procedures including start of day count with a witness, end of day count with a witness, and accountance of wasted medication.
- Maintenance of professional competence, registration and CPR training.
- Complete follow-up related to medication and surgical abortion procedures performed at PPMSM
- Serve as a resource for patient call backs in all departments
- Complete sign-off and write plan for normal as well as abnormal lab tests performed at PPMSM

Qualifications:
- Licensed to practice in the State of Michigan as a registered nurse.
- Excellent communication skills.
- One to two years of experience in family planning or OB/GYN services and conscious sedation experience preferred.
