Description of Organization: The National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum is the only national, multi-issue Asian and Pacific Islander (API) women’s advocacy organization in the United States. We are building a movement to advance social justice and human rights for API women and girls in the U.S. We implement our vision by increasing the leadership, power and visibility of API women and girls through five strategies: base-building and leadership building; community and public education; policy advocacy, grassroots multi-issue organizing; and strategic collaborations. Founded in 1996, we are a growing and dynamic organization with staff in two offices and local chapters in twelve cities.
Position Responsibilities: This position is a leadership position for an entrepreneurial and energetic leader in social justice
and campaign organizing. The Field Organizer is the leader responsible for leadership and
chapter development functions for the organization including the development and delivery of
training programs; growing NAPAWF’s social media initiatives; and overseeing the grassroots
components of national advocacy campaigns.
The Field Organizer will be a critical NAPAWF team member and will have ample opportunity to work closely with the all staff members, board, and chapter leaders. The Field Organizer will
oversee the expansion of NAPAWF’s chapter and leadership development programs, support
NAPAWF’s policy advocacy campaigns, grow our social media presence and have the
opportunity to build a robust civic engagement portfolio of work for NAPAWF. An ideal
candidate should be able to implement tried and true leadership development, social media and
advocacy campaign organizing strategies as well as keep abreast of innovations and
opportunities in the field that will help NAPAWF deepen our work.

POSITION SUMMARY
- Oversee the development and sustainability of NAPAWF chapters through one-on-one
engagements, designing and delivering curricula, workshops and trainings; guideinfrastructure and policies implementation throughout the organization; create
evaluation strategies which support leadership and chapter development.
- Develop and implement advocacy campaigns around NAPAWF priority issues,
including production of public education materials, media outreach and coordination
with NAPAWF chapters to implement advocacy campaigns.
- Coordinate NAPAWF’s annual Chapter Leaders Summit which brings over 50 leaders
together for critical skills building, issue education, and leadership development.
- Establish relationships and build coalitions with organizational, college and individual
NAPAWF allies. Represent NAPAWF at meetings, briefings, conferences and other
events.
- Oversee NAPAWF’s online presence including developing the content, layout and
distribution of NAPAWF’s quarterly organizing e-newsletter; twice annual print
newsletters; assisting in the dissemination of press releases and articles; updating the
NAPAWF website.
- Create and maintain NAPAWF’s new and social media, email outreach strategies,
online advocacy and fundraising efforts, online-to-offline mobilization strategies, and
innovative campaigns to grow our online community and presence.
- Develop, deliver or connect member to trainings on important API women’s policy
issues.
- Support NAPAWF’s membership and grassroots fundraising goals by supporting
individual and chapter fundraising and implementing twice annual organization-wide
fundraising drives.
- Recruit and supervise interns/fellows/volunteers.
- Perform duties, as necessary, as a member of the NAPAWF team.
Qualifications:
- BA or comparable experience or higher degree preferred.
- Be highly responsible with a strong work ethic and responsiveness to deadlines.
- Have excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills, be able to work
independently as well as part of a team.
- Be outgoing and energetic. Must be comfortable talking in front of large groups.
- Have previous online organizing, campaigning and/or communications experience.
- Be open to learning and working within a small, dynamic and growing organization.
- Be willing to travel.
- Have a strong commitment to the issues of API women and girls, health, social justice and human rights.
- Fluent in MS Office. Familiarity with Wordpress, Democracy in Action, and/or Saleforce
a plus.
