Description of Organization:
The Midwest Access Project (MAP) envisions a society in which every person has access to patient-centered, quality, reproductive health care within their community. MAP’s mission is to improve access to reproductive health care by training providers in comprehensive sexual and reproductive health, including contraception, pregnancy options counseling, miscarriage, and abortion. As a Midwestern hub for training and advocacy, MAP fills gaps in medical education and clinical training, and reduces barriers to care.

Position Responsibilities:
The MAP Executive Director will give direction and leadership toward the achievement of MAP’s mission, vision, and annual goals and work plans. Key duties include administration, staff management and oversight, strategic fund development, marketing, and community outreach. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and will work with them to fulfill its governance and fiduciary functions. Key Responsibilities Leadership and Management • Lead efforts in the implementation of MAP’s vision, mission, and overarching goals • Actively work with the Board of Directors and staff to execute strategic plan • Oversee development and implementation of strategies, work plans, and budgets necessary to achieve goals and objective • Oversee organizational operations • Effectively supervise, lead, develop, and retain a high-performing staff • Provide leadership, vision, and a working environment that encourages diversity, professionalism, dedication, and mission-driven outcomes Fund Development and Financial Management • Provide strong fiscal management and oversight, including working with the Treasurer to ensure sound bookkeeping and accounting principles are followed • Raise sufficient funds to cover program needs plus reserve and continue to expand fundraising base • Cultivate new funders and strengthen relationships with existing funders including foundations and individual donors with the aim of aggressively growing the MAP budget to support organizational growth in accordance with the strategic plan • Supervise and review the writing of grants and submissions of proposals and reports • Identify and establish strategic alliances that support MAP’s financial well-being • Manage organizational finances and financial reporting in coordination with the Treasurer. Community and Public Relations • Serve as primary spokesperson for MAP and assure that MAP is consistently presented with a positive image to relevant stakeholders • Set and implement the strategy for external communications. Board Administration and Support • Attend all Board meetings, communicate effectively and efficiently with the Board to help them function properly and make informed decisions • Ensure adequate staff support for board committees Program Development • Identify and establish relationships with new training partners and oversee the maintenance of those relationships with support from the Program Director as appropriate • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including reproductive justice allies and support program staff in advancing these relationships

The MAP Executive Director should possess the following background and qualifications: • Leadership experience in nonprofit sector required, 5-10 years preferred • Knowledge of the reproductive health and justice landscape, in particular the abortion providing medical community • Strong commitment to reproductive health and rights for all people • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Proven track record of successful fundraising, including with foundations and individual donors • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people and organizations • Ability to travel as necessary Preferred qualifications include: • Experience with medical education • A master’s degree or advanced training applicable to nonprofit management
