Description of Organization: RH Reality Check (www.rhrealitycheck.org) is an award-winning daily publication providing evidence-based news, analysis, and commentary, as well as interactive dialogue on matters of sexual and reproductive health and justice. Position Responsibilities: RHRC is hiring a Director of Online Fundraising and Campaigns to create and manage online
fundraising and online campaigns intended to diversify funding sources and increase our visibility.
The incumbent will work in conjunction with the Online Community Manager and other staff to build
creative campaigns around issues on which we work, and strong relationships with our supporters to
increase online fundraising as a complement to funds from other sources. This position reports
directly to the President.
The ideal candidate is a strong strategic thinker who is able to multi-task and work with a small team
to get things done; a self-starter not afraid to take initiative when appropriate; able to engage
constructively with other staff; and is not afraid to think outside the box.
The Director of Online Fundraising and Campaigns will be responsible for:
- Envisioning, creating, articulating, and overseeing a strategy for online fundraising and issue
campaigns, as well as developing our online messaging and outreach;
- Setting and meeting online fundraising targets;
- Building our email list and fundraising capacity, while maintaining the database of online
supporters;
- Overseeing and managing engagement with online donors;
- Choosing, executing and training other staff in the program software best suited to meet our
online fundraising and campaign needs;
- Working with staff, including the Online Community Manager, Director of Research, Editor-inChief and other staff as needed to create and implement timely and relevant email campaigns to
support our content.
Qualifications: The Ideal candidate for this position:
- Has worked as an opposition researcher, political researcher, investigative reporter or
researcher, or in another closely related area, and has demonstrated/is known for a deep
commitment to evidence, facts, and findings, both published and not-published;
- Has successfully completed research on policymakers, political figures, organizations, and
government actors to make a case;
- Is highly organized, highly curious and innovative, a multi-tasker, and a good manager;
- Has demonstrated knowledge of databases, resources, government sources, and other reservoirs
of information necessary to conduct and/or guide evidence-based reporting and investigative
reporting;
- Has a keen sense of intuition about facts, figures, and information related to sexual and
reproductive health and justice and knows when more evidence is needed, and what is “enough;”
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Works extremely well on their own or as part of a team; and
- Has demonstrated knowledge and passion for the broad range of reproductive and sexual justice
issues.
- A master’s degree in journalism or social science is a plus, although qualified candidates without
such degrees will be given equal consideration
