Planned Parenthood Mid and South Michigan provides quality healthcare to 50,000 patients. Our service area, where we can provide health and education services and raise funds, is in Berrien, Cass, Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Van Buren, Wayne, Washtenaw, Genesee, Shiawassee and Saginaw counties. We currently have 15 health centers in Ann Arbor (2), Benton Harbor, Brighton, Detroit, East Lansing, Jackson, Lansing, Livonia, Warren, Ypsilanti, Flint, Burton, Owosso, and Saginaw.

Planned Parenthood of Mid and South Michigan seeks a creative and energetic development director to manage all aspects of annual giving fundraising campaign, grant management, donor research and stewardship, and database systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and implement annual giving program via direct mail and online giving. Create strategy and timeline for implementation, and produce high-quality, cost-effective annual fund solicitation packages. Analyze performance of annual giving programs including donor acquisition, retention, and upgrade strategy effectiveness.
  • Supervise research, cultivation and solicitation of public and private grant agencies. Manage grant process to develop accurate timelines, secure foundation research, establish strong foundation relationships, prepare and write proposals, and conduct effective stewardship for funders. Work with appropriate staff to ensure timely proposal production and grant stewardship.
  • Supervise and direct the management of donor communications and development publications including print and electronic newsletters, annual report and donor updates. Work in concert with PPAM staff to coordinate fundraising messaging and publication production.
  • Oversee planning and execution of events. Manage key volunteer relationships.
  • Direct and supervise systems for data management, report generation and analysis of donor gift information utilizing donor database for PPMSM and PPAM.
  • Prepare development budget and fundraising projections.
  • Supervisory responsibility for Development Coordinator and Grant Writer.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the development and communications staff: Development Database Coordinator, Special Events Coordinator, Grant Writer and Graphic Designer. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or other related discipline.
  • Minimum of five to seven years of relevant fundraising experience with progressively responsible management duties, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Ability to secure grants, manage annual giving programs and execute special events.
  • Supervisory experience is required.
