Description of Organization: Raising Women’s Voices (RWV) is a national initiative working to ensure that the needs of women and our families are addressed as the Affordable Care Act health reform law is implemented. RWV is a collaborative initiative of three organizations: the National Women’s Health Network, the MergerWatch Project and the Avery Fellows Program of the National Black Women’s Health Imperative.
Position Responsibilities: 1) Providing support to RWV’s regional coordinators across the country, including managing a mini-grant process that provides financial support to these coordinators several times a year; arranging weekly conference calls on policy issues or strategy with the group of coordinators and responding to coordinators’ requests for assistance;
2) Serving as the RWV field organizer for NYS health reform implementation and sharing strategies developed in New York with RWV coordinators elsewhere; and
3) Building RWV’s nationwide field network through strategic use of social networking.
Qualifications: Prior knowledge of health reform, particularly the women’s health concerns in state health reform implementation, is desirable. Other important job qualifications include: ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, good writing and public speaking skills, familiarity with social networking. This is a full-time job with health benefits.
