Description of Organization:
The National Abortion Federation (NAF) is the professional association of abortion providers in North America. NAF is a 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to ensuring that abortion is safe, legal, and accessible. Our dynamic and innovative programs span a wide range of services designed to meet the unique needs of abortion providers and patients. Our members include clinics, hospitals and physicians' offices in the United States, Canada and Mexico City.

Position Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the Clinical Services Director is to provide oversight to the Clinical Services Department. These functions include: managing and maintaining the systems that support the Quality Assessment and Improvement (QAI) program, overseeing internal quality assurance activities, and working collaboratively with other departments within NAF to further the mission of the organization. The Director will report to the Vice President and General Counsel.

Duties:

  • Ensures that a minimum number of quality site visits are conducted annually;
  • Personally conducts quality site inspections of member facilities (located throughout North America) annually;
  • Ensures consistency in site visit assessment and follow-up, and provides clear structure of training and evaluation;
  • Provides technical assistance for members;
  • Supervises Associate Director of Clinical Services, Executive Assistant, and Hotline Clinical Data Coordinator;
  • Works closely with the Chair of QAI Committee to further the work of the QAI program;
  • Works with the Board QAI and Clinical Policy Committees to ensure timely review of current literature to update NAF's Clinical Policy Guidelines annually and issue Clinical Policy Bulletins as necessary;
  • Provides support as needed to all departments of NAF for any clinical issues and related abortion care concerns impacting membership;
  • Manages and maintains site visit database in coordination with Membership and Finance Departments.


Qualifications:
  • Strong commitment to a woman's right to choose abortion;
  • Must be able to travel extensively (50%);
  • Clinician (RN, NP, CNM, PA);
  • Direct experience working in an abortion facility;
  • Knowledge of health care quality practices; and
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communications skills.
