Description of Organization:

Join our team and make a difference! Here at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, we are seeking a full-time Clinician (FNP/PA) to work at our Bakersfield Health Center. Services provided at the Health Center include a range of reproductive and general health services including: Family Planning, Breast & Cervical screening, Teen Clinic and Colposcopy. Offering $5,000 Sign-on Bonus!



Position Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Reviews & interprets the medical and social history of both male and female reproductive health patients;
  • Performs appropriate medical screening procedures/exams for both male and female patients;
  • Interprets laboratory data, orders additional laboratory investigations when indicated and ensures appropriate follow-up;
  • Provides contraceptive methods:
    • Contraceptives that are self-administered (no procedure required);
    • Provides/oversees contraceptive injections.
    • Provides emergency contraception;
  • Performs medical assessment and management of basic STI and genito-urinary conditions for both male and female patients;
  • Provides premenopausal and menopausal services;
  • Provides medical management for complications related to abortion and sterilization.
  • Provides medication abortion, as indicated.
  • Acts as a medical consultant to clinic staff;
  • Manages emergency situations in the center;
  • Participates in staff meetings relating to center management and provides staff training in current medical procedures which are relevant to reproductive health;
  • Contributes to achieving health center productivity goals.
  • Demonstrates PPMM customer service standards;
  • Assists in other areas of center support work as required.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Participates in after-hours coverage;
  • Precepts students/residents;
  • Works with/supervises volunteers/interns as applicable;
  • Performs other duties as assigned;


Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to perform the duties described above. A typical means of acquiring those abilities would be:
    • Graduation from an accredited FNP or Primary Care PA program for comprehensive primary care centers;
    • Graduation from an accredited Womens Health NP or CNM program is acceptable for limited primary care centers.
  • Current State NP/PA/CNM license;
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
  • REQUIREMENTS:

    • Willingness and ability to learn new skills appropriate to PPMM clinical duties;
    • Strong customer service orientation.
    • Available to cover at least one evening clinic per week and one Saturday clinic per month, as needed by center;
    • Current experience using computer and mouse.
    • Experience using a Microsoft Windows based program and willing to learn new computer skills.
    • Able to work cooperatively as a member of a health care delivery team;
