Associate Director, Campus Wellness

Position Responsibilities:

Summary of Duties: The Associate Director of Campus Wellness reports directly to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Campus Recreation and Wellness, and supervises three full time professionals as well as several graduate assistants and student employees. The primary responsibility of this position is directing and providing administrative oversight for the comprehensive Campus Wellness program for Campus Recreation and Wellness. The Associate Director performs the following responsibilities: overseeing program development and implementation; providing long range and short-term strategic planning; assessing and evaluating programs and services; providing leadership for and management of the Campus Wellness program unit. The Campus Wellness Associate Director serves as a resource person for ECU students, faculty and staff, as well as the Greenville community. This person will perform other duties as necessary for the advancement of Campus Wellness efforts within Campus Recreation and Wellness and the University.

Specific Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Works with the Assistant Vice Chancellor in the administrative planning and implementation of all programs and services for Campus Wellness
  • Oversees a comprehensive Wellness Passport program, in collaboration with Academic Affairs, to promote campus wellness initiatives
  • Researches, develops and oversees implementation of wellness programs and initiatives
  • Prepares and monitors unit financial budget
  • Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates Campus Wellness staff
  • Develops and revises Campus Wellness policies, procedures and goals
  • Continually evaluates the quality, impact and outcomes of programs offerings
  • Oversees the coordination of health education campus awareness campaigns/events
  • Contributes as a member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team (SALT)
  • Serves as the administrator for the Wellness Living Learning Community and Mentor Program
  • Pursues grant funding opportunities 12. Serves as a referral source for campus and community
  • Serves as the primary Campus Recreation and Wellness contact for wellness initiatives across the campus and community.  


Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an appropriately accredited institution in health education, nutrition, public health, student personnel administration or a related field
  • Minimum of five years of related experience, preferably in higher education, with demonstrated progressive levels of administrative responsibilities
  • Knowledge of current community health promotion theories, methods, and strategies
  • Experience managing a health promotion program including strategic planning, supervising employees, and managing budgets
  • Experience writing and administering grants, preferred 6. Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research design, implementation, and interpretation
  • Working knowledge of effective marketing strategies
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, a collaborative management style, and the ability to work cooperatively with various faculty, staff, and students.
