Organization: Bloomberg School of Public Health-Department: Population, Family and Reproductive Health
Location: Baltimore Maryland
Application Deadline: N/A
Salary: N/A
Description of Organization: The Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health seeks qualified applicants to join our tenure track faculty in women’s health. Candidates should have PhD or equivalent training in public health, the social sciences, or related fields.
The position will involve a balance of research, teaching, and academic service. Applicants should have potential for, or demonstrated success in, obtaining grants and should have published in peer-reviewed journals commensurate with their level of training and experience. Teaching and advising skills will also be important. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
Position Responsibilities: The position is for professionals with expertise in women’s health in the United States and/or internationally. In the Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health, we consider women’s health comprehensively, encompassing reproduction (family planning, abortion), sexual health (STI/HIV, reproductive cancers), maternal health (and the health of women’s newborns), gender-based violence, and chronic illnesses. We examine women’s health from adolescence through adulthood and aging. Critical to this framework are the social and political contexts that form the backdrop for women’s health, and attention to unique vulnerabilities posed by context, age, and other factors. This comprehensive lifecourse perspective, and the use of multi-disciplinary research methods, allows one to focus on the intersections between these many aspects of women’s health.
