Media Response Network

The Association of Reproductive Health Professionals (ARHP) works to ensure that reproductive health is accurately covered in the media. Working closely with a wide variety of media outlets, we have built trusting relationships with reporters seeking our assistance for articles and stories on reproductive health issues. The primary goal of this program is to ensure accuracy in media coverage of reproductive health issues. This significantly raises ARHP’s profile among reporters, specifically those who cover health and policy.

To efficiently and reliably meet reporters’ needs, ARHP maintains a Media Response Network (MRN) comprised of hundreds of health care providers all of whom are the leaders in their fields, have experience speaking with the media, and understand deadlines. ARHP connects members of the media to these experts to ensure that their reporting contains accurate, evidence-based, scientific information.

Reporters come to ARHP on a plethora of reproductive health issues, including:

  • Family planning/contraception
  • Menstruation
  • Human sexuality
  • Emergency contraception (“morning after pill”)
  • Reproductive cancers
  • Sexually transmitted infections
  • Abortion
  • Stem cell research/therapeutic cloning/genetics
  • Menopause
  • Male reproductive health
  • And other reproductive health issues

All MRN members are long-standing, high-profile members of ARHP who are media trained. The MRN offers a wide array of health care providers (MDs, advanced practice clinicians, etc.), researchers, and educators in reproductive health, reflecting ARHP’s multi-disciplinary, multi-specialty membership. MRN members who respond to media requests through ARHP are highly qualified, respected for their expertise and for their commitment to reproductive health.

ARHP’s MRN members have been sources for and quoted in such high profile media outlets as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Baltimore Sun, Newsweek, National Public Radio, Forbes.com, Associate Press, scores of women’s magazine, among many others.
