  • Abortion, Reproductive Rights and Health: Highlights from the Charlotte Ellertson Social Science Postdoctoral Fellowship 2003-2010This open access May/June 2011 Supplement of Women’s Health Issues was generously supported by Ibis Reproductive Health. This supplement highlights 7 years of research from Fellows who were part of the Charlotte Ellertson Social Science Postdoctoral Fellowship in Abortion and Reproductive Health. Offered at Columbia University, the Guttmacher Institute, Ibis Reproductive Health, The Johns Hopkins University, and the University of California, San Francisco, the Fellowship encouraged postdoctoral scholars to study abortion and reproductive health and to undertake research that will inform policy and practice.  The supplement was guest edited by Wendy Chavkin, PhD, of Columbia University and Jane Williamson and features 13 original articles by Ellertson Fellows on a diverse array of U.S. and international abortion policy and practice issues.   •  Health and Health Care of Women Veterans and Women in the Military: Research Informing Evidence-based Practice and PolicyThis open access July/August 2011 Supplement of Women’s Health Issues was generously supported by the VA Health Services Research & Development Service.  It was guest edited by VA researchers Elizabeth Yano, PhD and Susan Frayne, MD.  Following an open call for submissions, the supplement contains 21 scholarly health services and health policy analyses on a variety of topics related to the health care needs of active-duty and veteran women in the U.S. military.  Topics include mental health, PTSD, military sexual trauma, cardiovascular health, and primary care.  The Guest Editors also provide a commentary on the current progress in research related to military women’s health and note areas for future needs.
