Session Types

Pre-conference Session – Pre-conference sessions are accredited, require formal learning objectives and should be highly interactive. Pre-conference sessions are three and a half hours in length and usually have more than one presenter. Typically, these sessions have an attendance of 20-30.

Lunch and Learn – Lunch and learns are unaccredited, small discussion groups and do not require formal learning objectives. Lunch and learns are 60 minutes in length and typically have 20-25 participants. As the name suggests, participants will be eating lunch during these sessions and audio visual equipment will NOT be available. The primary goal of a lunch and learn is to encourage discussion and networking among the participants. Presenters of these sessions will be facilitators of the discussion rather than formal faculty.

Plenary Session – Plenary sessions are accredited, require formal learning objectives, and are presented to all conference attendees. Several plenary sessions are awarded lectureships. A plenary speaker will have between 30-45 minutes to present material, including at least 10-15 minutes for audience questions.

Concurrent Breakout Session – Concurrent Breakout sessions are accredited, require formal learning objectives and are presented to approximately 75 conference attendees. Friday afternoon Concurrent Breakout sessions are 50 minutes, including time for questions, while the sessions Saturday morning last 90 minutes, including time for questions.
